    There are many ballasts that will work. Not just bluewave.
    The IceCap electronic ballasts are very popular and will run almost any type of MH bulb you would want.
    Personally, I run Lumatek, PFO, and Hamilton Technologies ballasts. The PFOs are cheapest by far, but work just fine. The Lumatek puts out an insane amount of power. Eventually, I will upgrade to all Lumateks.

    It all boils down to how much of a budget you are on when it comes to ballasts.

    As for quantity, each bulb requires it's own ballast. However, there are units out there with 2 ballasts in each unit. Have not seen a 3 ballast unit. So at the very least you would need 3 single ballast units or a dual unit and a single.
