I've certainly read enough 3reef LED threads to know that many of you have an advanced understanding of LED lighting. So I thought I would bring up cool blog Inhabitat's LIGHTEN UP! LED lighting competition with a $1000 prize. They are looking for great examples of lighting designs that incorporate energy-efficient LEDs. I don't think they have aquarium lights in mind with this, but surely a good design would make you a 'Lighting Designer' in the 'residential' category, no? Regardless, this will be a cool contest to follow. Last day to enter is April 15th.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
That is an interesting twist Matt.

I can think of a couple 3reefers that have done creative modifications to their LEDs.

Wish I had my old PC with my pics from a Lake House Dock I designed and installed. It had LEDs all over it! Might try to contact the owner and get some pics.

Ah, I just realized you are/were hinting at using my system's lighting as a submission... I should read a bit more slowly it seems.

I was already thinking about a cool accent lighting project in the house somewhere, control it off the Logitech TV remote.

    Well that would be great!
    I'd submit both. ;)

Submissions go to a public vote. It would be great to get some 3reefers in there.

after looking at the site, What format are they looking for the design in? Actual pictures of a working model or CAD drawings?
their description is Calling all architects, interior designers and lighting designers so would make me think CAD drawings are the format but unclear.

Energy about 200-300w on peak used(controller programmed installed) Still working now on red spectrum and put additional controllers may be. Still in project!
    Details:
Faraway: Chinese 10w each 5 lamps (in my orinion completely wast) any how use them for now

around royal blues and blues Cree also
on perimeter: UVs 405nm (435nm 6 of them stay in the middle row)
