If you are growing cheato is it necessary to have your refugium light off for a period of the day or can you keep it lit 24/7. I have seen people do both and personal had mine go off for about 4 hours a day until I needed the timer for my Kessil. Now, I am wondering if I even need to replace it?

I think a lot of people run a reverse cycle.

    Day: DT on, fuge off
    Night: DT off, fuge on

It is good to give the algae a rest period. So I suggest turning the lights out and using a reverse period as suggested.

    agreed.

The plants cycles do better with a dark cycle daily, also, supposed to keep the PH more stable with an opposite cycle.

I've heard a lot of people using the reverse cycle.

I've had mine on 24/7. Chaeto is growing like crazy. Had to throw out half tonight. About a basketball size. Ph is stable at 8.3. Have a 6500k cfl and workshop fixture.

I'd do the reverse cycle, chaeto as I;ve been told by many grows better during the dark hours, and it also helps stabilize PH swings by doing the reverse cycle;) The light in your fuge when the DT lights go out prevent major swings;)
