Hey all. I have a 40 gallon tank and i had a 2 bulb t5 ho fixture on it and about a month and a half ago a bought another 2 bulb fixture, so i now have 4 bulbs. I thought I did a pretty slow acclimation of the second light but last week i started noticing algae on the sand bed and film algae on the glass, so i turned off my second fixture and was gunna try to re acclimate it but the algae just got worse. is it going to cause a bigger algae problem if I decrease the amount of light, or should i just leave the light on and let it pass? thanks

You could do a black-out for a couple days. Like 2-4. It wont hurt your corals at all. I did one the other day and it whiped the tank clean of algae. Now i am running the reactor and my tank is algae FREE! :)

most algae are photosynthetic so no light=no growth. Make sure u know a good deal about running gfo before you put it in place. Running just a little too much and you can strip your tank down so fast it will harm your coral. Make sure u have a good test kit or Hanna ppb meter before using gfo

You will need exactly .63 cups of GFO for a 40 gal. Or 10 tbsp. hehe :)
