Hey guys I just recently decided to upgrade my lighting on my 30"long 29 gallon reef. Right now I have a Current USA 30" Orbit, 2x65 watt PC. I really dont have anything as far as photsynthetic inverts but that's where I want to be heading. Tank is established but with no canopy so mounting can only be done by foot mounts. I want to go T5's since i'm not going to be running a chiller and looked at this fixture 36 inch 6x39W Sunlight Supply Tek Light High Output Fluorescent Lighting Fixture
    But once again no legs.
Any diamonds in the ruff that any of you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

don't have t5's but I heard that tek's are top of the line in lighting as far as t5's go

Yeah but without the ability to use "feet" to put it directly onto the aquarium I am at kind of an impass.

Six lamps will be too many for a 29 gal. Four lamps will be perfect, and you will be able to grow whatever you want. BUT the feet you are looking into are on the ends of the fixture and since your tank is 30" long the feet will not work as the fixture will overhang the tank...

    Something to consider!

    I would go with 30" Current-USA Sundail

I have a the same size tank as you and I use the 4 x 24w T5 30" Sundial. I'm very pleased with it and it comes with legs.

I'm not a lighting expert, but I have asked in the past about keeping SPS with this light on this size tank and had several people reply back that most SPS will be fine as long as they are placed on upper rocks. Take from that what you will maybe someone with more experience/knowledge could confirm or refute that.
