lighting for 55 gallon

    Seriously though, you cannot skimp on lighting. That cheap T5 fixture probably did not have individual reflectors. (Very bad) For a T5 fixture go Tek, ATI, Aquatinics. @ ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums

    on a 55 - I vote a 2x150 watt with 2x54 watt T5 supp.
    But with 2x250 watt halides you won't ever need to upgrade lighting - even if you upgrade the tank to a 90 gallon or 120 gallon.
