I'm setting up a new 75g system and I need some advice about my lighting. Right now I've got a 46BF that I'm running a 36" Coralife PC fixture on. It's a nice light but I think I want stronger. I don't think I could do MH because they're really freaking expensive. I started looking into T5's though and I'm interested. Only thing is now I've got to decide on a kit that will bolt to the top of my canopy or a fixture that has it's own supports. Any opinions?

    2x250w + reflectors + ballasts + bulbs = ~$650
    tek 6x54W T5HO + bulbs = $474 + ~$150 = ~$624

pretty comparable in cost. ive been doing costing myself on a lighting setup for my 75gal. id also check used equipment.

Do up a retro with a pair of used 150 halides and 2 to 4 T5s for supplementation. It would probably cost you around 400 or so and you would have lighting comperable to big money fixtures.
