It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have never owned a Mantis personally although I have cared for a few.

The lighting was usually medium to low, no special attention was given to providing the same lighting needs that you would see with corals or algae.

Following to see what the current thoughts on the subject are.

I don't think the actual type (LED, T5, etc) is important. I have not kept mantis shrimp, but after some research I'm pretty sure low light is better. Too much light and they won't come out of the cave(s) much and won't be as active.

I would go with low wattage LED/T5 or maybe power compacts. You could still have some hardier soft corals in the tank if you want.

I have some mushrooms and xenia to add :D I've seen a Peacock tank with no lighting aside from a reading lamp.

i kept my n. wennerae under some pretty bright LEDs. i was told this species of mantis usually inhabits 10-20 feet of water, where there is a high amount of light. regardless, after a week or so of being in the tank, he would walk anywhere he wanted, all the way up to the highest rock.

any light for is suitable for Wenneraes, Peacocks and some other species are sensitive to light as others have mentioned. ive had PCs in the past, t5s and LEDS over my mantis tanks, and i have never exhibited any difference in behavior between lighting conditions with the species i have kept (G. Smithii, N. Wennerae, N. Oerstedii to name a few) and all were diurnal and incredibly active and interactive.HTH
