most tanks are bigger than 30g and i cant seem to find a post bout small tank lighting. id like to keep about 3-5 soft corals. which kind of lighting is just enough, not too expensive and does not produce too much heat, since i live in Thailand. im going out to buy some stuff tomorrow, so pls reply soon. thanks!

if you can find some of those short power compact lights those would probably work
what are the dimensions of the tank itself?

The 25 watt version of this should work well for some soft coral. What kind are you looking to have?

    hi there mike!
i already got my new lights before i got your reply. but thanks a bunch cause it gave me such a relief to find this reply. please tell me if this is ok. its not power compact but it has 3 fluorescent tubes, one is blue and two are white. each one is only 8 watts which totals 24 watts. is this gonna do the job?

i asked one shop owner and he told me it wasnt enough for corals. but i saw dubsreef's 10g reef tank on youtube , he only had 24 watts PC lights. he's got a bunch of corals, it was cool. so i thought i could do the same.

with regards to corals, i dont have much idea on the kinds, all i know is that as long as it will thrive in my tank, ill go with it. but i prefer ones with bright colors or has luminescence and flows back and forth with the water current.

by the way, im an alien here in Thailand and its too hard to communicate to locals to get the infos i need. and im so thankful that there are really helpful folks here. so could you suggest some names of corals and ill just google them to find out how they look like. thanks again mike! hope to hear from you again.
