so I am planning on this weekend getting 2 clams (squamosa and maxima). does any on have a rough estimate of what PAR range would work best for them. My places to put them range from readings of 600 to 200. (200 being the sand bed.

Color temperature matters as well. Shoot for somewhere close to 12000 k.

Maxima on a flat area near or on top of your rocks, squamosa in the sand. Daylight color temperature bulbs.

I use elos 10K bulbs with ATI blue+ supplemental T5's. so the color temp should be roughly in the 12-13KK range i think.

Squamosa is okay on your sand bed with between 200 an 300 par... Your maxima will want to be placed at a slightly higher par... At like 400 to 600 par. Croatia clams can take up to 1200 par

I have a blue maxima in the sand bed of my 24 gallon Nano Tank using 2 x 36 watt compact fluorescents. I also have a crocea clam in the rock about midway up. Both have been in there about 9 months.

My clams tend to really like Reef Snow. They look better and healthier after I use Reef Snow versus just phyto
