I'm setting up a 20 gal long frag tank, the corals that I am fragging will be coming out of my 55 which has t5's, My question is should I stick with t5's or just go with MH for the frag tank?

if you can mimic the same lighting as your display then you will have the least amount of stress...
on a 20L you arent going to need halides so i would say just stick to a t5 fixture

    Thanks Dingo,

For such a shallow tank will I still need to get a 4 bulb or could I get away with 2?

    20 longs are 24" right?
that means that the bulbs will only be 24w each... you could maybe make it work, but if I were building, i would go with 4 of those little 24w bulbs

In a frag tank for growth only use 6500K bulbs, for growth and color use 10000K. Definitely use 4 bulbs.

You can go with either size. They will work equally well just depends on how much you plan to fill the tank.

Id go with the 4 bulb 24". No sense in going 36" and lighting up the floor.

tank that small 4 24w t5's be plenty. Might also want to look at a DIY LED setup. They're very affordable for small tanks and provide amazing light, low heat, low wattage, and last 5+ years.

For a 20 long you'd only need about 12 LED's max. rapidled has some packages you can use to compare.
