Hello I am trying to figure out what the best lighting would be for live sand and live rock with soft corals. I just bought a 75 gal. its 60" long by 19" wide and 16" tall. I was thinking about a 48" light with 4 64 watt lights. Does any one have any thought to this. Thanks8)

Look into the Nova Extreme Pro 6x54W and the Tek 6x54W T5 units. I have a 48x18x18 75g tank and when it comes time I am going to get the 8x54W. Probably a little overkill but I like light. Some are equipped with lunar lights and others are not. If they are not, I would not make it a deal breaker. You can get them separately and run them independently from the main.

I agree, if your only going to keep soft corals, although probably you will keep some lps or even sps at some point, I would go with T5s. I have the nova extreme 4x54 watt fix. and love it. On a 75 I would go with at least 6 bulbs, Nova Extreme also has a 6 bulb configuration. Good luck

I agree. For most folks integrated moon lights aren't a deal breaker. Just FYI - Nova Extreme 4x54 and smaller do not have integrated moonlights despite what you may see on retailers web sites. Only the 8x54 does. You can also find them integrated in SunDial lights from Current as well.

This is not ture, I have the Nova Extreme 4x54 and it has integrated moonlights. I believe all of the normal Nova Extremes have integrated lunar lights 4x54, 6x54, 8x54. The pro model does not, I believe.

They very recently stopped making the 4x and smaller with moonlights, but a lot of the retailers are still listing them as coming with. He just got burnt on that one

Both lights will work very well for you and neither is a bad choice.

My name is Reeron and I approve this message. :D

thanks for the feedback but I think the 6X64 might be too much light. Remember that the tank is only 16" tall. But maybe I need all 6 lights because of the live sand I dont know?

You have to remember that Corals need a lot of light, They do happen to live under THE SUN. :sunny:

Unless you have 15 + watts per gallon I would not worry about to much light. Even then its not really the light you have to worry about its the heat.

Yeah, I just ordered them and they came in without. Pet Mountain didn't even realize it. They have updated their website after contacting Current directly. This is a new thing. So if you have an older model (or can find one on ebay) then you can get them, only the 8x54 has them in the Nova Extreme line now.

The 6x54 is Nova Extreme Pro and none of the Pro series has them either.

Here's my thread on that http://www.3reef.com/forums/reef-lighting/got-my-new-light-i-tricked-52558.html
