    hey guys i got 2 t5s and 2 250w metal halides on my tank. i was wondering if it woad be ok to change out my t5s for some real high output actenics to add some blue to light up my SPS and zoas do u guys think id have any tipe of algae bloom?

    Not at all, what current fixture do you have? Is it two seperate fixtures? and no adding atinics would not cause any algea bloom

    it is a all in one hood it has 2 mhs in the center then 2 t5s on each side of metal halides

    o ya and one more thing im worried about is if switch out my t5s for actenics will i still be able to grow any corals i want? cuz i now i still got mhs but do i rly need both mh and t5?

    No you dont, you will be fine with just the MHs and be able to keep anything. I would change them out with some atinics.

    UVL Super Actinics are my favorite bulbs so far. They give a nice purple color at a spectrum of 420nm. I run the UVL 454 bulb and the Super actinic bulb and they look great teamed together. The 454 is more blue and the SA is an amazing purple.

    If you want PAR output with a blue lamp go with the ATI Blue+... Most actinic lamps put out little PAR....

    whats duz PAR mean guy's? and my t5s i got now are 10000k my lfs had a 180 gal with MHS and actenics and they got 2 actenics on each side of the mhs and they get a real nice blue in it so ima ask them what there useing for bulbs

    macabe, I applaud you researching and working a tank, but the word is ACTINICS :)
    PAR is photosynthetically available radiation, essentially the spectrum of light(between 400-700nm) that corals and plants use to, for lack of a better term photosynthesize and grow.
