I have a wierd tank. Its a 75g with angled ends. and the protein skimmer sits inside an overflow box in the back corner. I don't have room for a 4 bulb 48" fixture, but I do have room for 1 2bulb 48" fixture and 1 2bulb 36" fixture. possibly two 36" 2bulb fixtures but the 48" has to go right in the middle with the two 36's on either side. I've just about ruled out building my own since I could purchase three such T5 fixtures from fishneedit.com for less than 200 before shipping but this would be like 2x54 and 4x32 watts. 236 watts... 75 gallon tank doesn't even give me 3.5 watts/gallon... like 3.14. I will post a picture of the tank when I get home from school in a couple hours in case this is too confusing. Just trying to get some different oppinions.

You can get retrofit kits for about 120 each. That would save you a boat load. They would fit better in a custom hood and give you a much better light spread.

    Just my 2c

A pic would be awesome. I am having a hard time picturing it.

Sorry it took me so long to post these pictures, I've had a really busy weekend. Here it is. The fixture that is sitting in there is a single bulb 30w actinic that the tank came with.

The Black thing in the corner is my protein skimmer. It fits down in that overflow box. which is the reason I don't have room for a 48" x 8" x 3" fixture.. only have 6" of room for a 48" fixture as you can see here.
