I've tried to do some digging and I can't really find anything. I'm looking for a simple explanation to the differences in the lighting available to us.

One reason I'm looking is because I'm thinking of changing out the PC lighting in my 12 gal Nano to something a little more coral friendly. (When I get a bigger tank, I'm going to concentrate more on corals in the small tank).

I thought my only option aside from what I had was a combo light. I'm looking at Marinedepot.com and my options are a 50/50 (which I'm assuming is a moonglow combo light),the regular light like I have and a actinic light. I don't REALLY know what an actinic light is. lol Any pointers on where I should go with this and if anyone knows of one, a link that gives basic explanation about lighting would be wonderful!

Actinic lighting is near ultra violet in the color spectrum. It is blue-purple in coloration. With your hood that is your only option outside of removing the current lighting and installing LED lighting in the hood. You should go to Nanotuners.com - Nanotuners.com to see some of the options they have to give you an idea of what you can do with your current tank.
