    I have observed many a hermit crab attempt to climp out...they get about half way up and then fall....but once i found on on top of my power head...which is only 1 inch from the top...that woulda been weird

    I have had 2 firefish and a scissortail goby jump out of the tank when I had open top. I now have eggcrate in the summer and plexi in the winter to cover the tank. My wife found the goby about 30 feet from the tank, out the room and down the hall!

    With the additional surface area of an open top do you get a lot more evaporation?
