I recently bought a 30g tank with a coralife light fixture. I've taken the light fixture and put it above my ten gallon, while being a much to large a light (it hangs over on one end prolly 8" or so) I was wondering if the 65w light in it was to much or not. Its a 50/50 I think the term is. One side is white and one side is actinic.

That is sufficient for most uses. I would center the fixture over the tank to get the most out of the light.

What are you planning on keeping in the tank?

Honestly I'm not sure yet, seeing it would be my first peice of coral ever. Oh and the light that is in the fixture isn't the full length of the fixtue. Where the bulb ends is where the fixture is hanging over. I just recently added about 3 to 4lbs of base rock so I'm going to wait till I see some kind of growth on them before adding anything. Well the rock was live but I removed it awhile back and let it dry out them moved it back in (Huge bristle worm was in side). What would you recommend as a first peice? Here is a picture of my aquascape. [IMG]

Mushrooms, zoanthids, leather corals and other soft corals are the best to start while you are working out care skills. Then go to LPS and learn dosing skills before heading to SPS and clams.

When the time comes I think I'm gonna try some zoanthids.
