    Hello fellow 3Reefers!
I had a question about the lighting for my upcoming tank. I purchased a 24 L x 24 W x 12 Height rimless 30 gallon aquarium. I plan on adding a 1-2inch sand bed so this will be a relatively shallow tank.

Would the Orbit Marine LED light suffice for most corals? I understand this is a relatively weak light, but some of the features are pretty neat. [IMG]

The other option I am considering is the Reef Breeders Photon series; however I worried that due to the shallow tank I would never be over 50% power, thus never using the light to its full output.

I would like some type of "ramp up" and "ramp down" ability. Please let me know if you all have any suggestions.

According to their own chart it does not seem to give that much PAR at the 12" mark. I know from my own experience that when i look for the inexpensive option it costs me more in the long run. There are so many good lighting options available. Im sure someone with more knowledge in that are will chime in soon.

Also, IMO, that unit may be fine for lower-light corals in a narrow, shallow tank, but over a 24" x 24" cube, you may have a lot of shadow effect. You could rectify that by using two, but for less money you could have a programmable, full-spectrum Nova A4 from ReefBreeders.
