Lighting question

    hi i'm new to this forum. i have a 15 gallon that's only 8" high. i was wondering how high i should put my lights if i get two 54watt t-5 HO lights? i have some zoos, hairy mushrooms xenia, finger leather.

    I would place them at least 12" above your tank. An 8" tall tank is very short :)

    Welcome to 3reef!!!!!!!
    All the corals you listed require moderate light at best. You don't need to have the lights right on top of the water. I would say 8inches or so above your top of tank should be sufficent. Also this will aid in keeping the temp of your water more consistent, avoiding temp. fluxuations caused by the heat generated with your lights being on and then the cooling down of your water when you turn the lights off. Temperature fluxuations have a detrimental effect on your livestock, by stressing them out as well as other factors.
