    It's an expensive hobby. Lighting is the one aspect of reefing I will never cheap out on again. After all, corals are photosynthetic.

    One suggestion: Start your cycle without the lights. This will give you a good 2 months to save up for a light. You don't need light during the cycle. You don't have to buy one right away.

    about the rapid leds do you know anything about them? if i buy the leds separately how many would i need?
    and your right about the 2 months!

    I think it will be more expensive buying them separately. The 40 breeder kit comes with a heat sink, 34 LEDs, 34 lenses, 3 drivers etc.
