Hey all i come to you and need some advice. My current lighting setup is a 3 bulb vho retro kit with an ice cap 660 driving it. I have 2 problems i am trying to figure out. 1) i want more light in general but i have it all under a custom hood. and the second if you were to upgrade would you add another bulb under the hood or switch out to something else. All information would be great i am just in a rut cause nothing is coming to my mind.

    Thanks all,
    Pat

does your signature represent your current stocking, as in do you have any corals in the tank?

do you have reflectors fitted over your current 3 x VHO tubes? as good quality reflectors can increase the overall brightness of the set up with minimal investment

also what colour / type/ brand tubes are you using

Woah that's quite a few pieces of coral you got there.
We'd love to see some pics sometime.
I've found that if reflectors are a problem to find, you could paint the underside of the cover in pure white and try to keep it clean and it works well as a reflector. Needless to say, highly polished aluminum reflectors work much better.
