Lighting system questions

    Thanks guys, good to get some definite answers from other reefers,.... so that settles it,... I am getting 2-250 MH. Will let u guys know how it's going with my tank and with the Clams, LPS, SPS and corals,....thanks again.

    Can anyone give me some links to some good reputable places to get good lighting at a good price. Look for 2-250 MH and possibly actinic supps.

    If interested I have some 250 HQI ballast that are like 8 months old 120 V ran for 8 hrs aday where put on line in October then I rewored the building and upgraded the Elect service and panle and starated to put all 240. Ballast on line.. P/M me if interested I have 3 or 4 left.. Oh you better consider the Actinics also..very importiant part of the puzzle

    I set this combo up Tangster is talking about and everytime someone comes over to check the tank out they are in awww about the intensity and color of the light. You will not be disappointed...but you may need sunglasses.8)

    Thanks guys, one last question if I get 2-250 MH do I need actinics to go with them? and why?

    Yes .. Why thats the light wavelength that truly reaches the corals and promotes photosynthesis the red and green wave lengths are filtered out by the water with in a few feet and yards. Also with the use of the actinics you can control the lighting by using them more and the M/.H less and not only save money but have a healthier tank of corals.
    I run the 03 from 7 am to 11 P.M the 14 K M/H for 6 hrs a day. No M/H can do it all. You need the Actinic . And the reason I suggest VHO's is they reproduce the blue wavelength better then any other bulb T-5's or P/C's and I also suggest that the VHO be URI brans only the best out there.
