Everyday I decide something different in the way of lighting. Now, I've come across a 30" Odyssea MH fixture. 378w. Is that too much for a cube that's 30x30x18? I apologize if it seems like I keep asking the same questions. Everyone's been very patient with me so far.

Do you know what setup it is? IE... 250W halide, 2 x 150W halide or what?

Either way, it will be plenty for most corals. Most likely good enough for SPS. Need the exact configuration to narrow it down though.

I run a 250w halide over my 93g cube. A member by the name of mojoe also runs a 250w over his 70g cube. My good friend dweakl runs a 250w over his 93g cube.

But if you want to go with this fixture that will be fine. It's hard to get "too much" light lol!
Also, odyssea products are not the best quality but they have been known to way underpower their lights and their ballasts can go up fairly easily. Also, the older models used to pose a fire hazard.

Thanks! All good information to have. I keep going back and forth between a setup like the Marineland Coral setup for the price and an MH for the light that it provides. I'll be about a month before I have to make a definite decision.

I recent just bought a 2x250w MH light upgrading from 4 bulb t5 and glad I did WOW tons more light! The marine land lights dont look powerful enough for to much but i could be wrong cause I havent used them.
