    im going to build my 1st sump tomorrow or today time zone. i heard a $10 light from walmart is good enough. but my real question is how long does the light stay on and how far away should it be?

    When I et my Fuge set up, I'm gonna have it on a reverse light cycle, so when the lights in the display go off the light over the fuge go on.

    Mine is on the 14 hours opposite the 10 hours the reef lights are on. It can be run 24 hours if you wish. My clamp is on the tank rin, so the bulb is maybe 8" from the water. 60 watt equivalent in a compact florescent daylight bulb.
