so i have my light cycle for my tanks kinda opposite from real day and night. My lights come on at 6pm and stay on till 1 or so. My question is should i keep it as dark as possible in my apartment during the day as to not disrupt/confuse the coral and fish. No direct sunlight is hitting the tank, just indirect/ambient light from the windows. I just kinda feel like a vampire! LOL;D

Probably not a bad idea since they come from areas with 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night.

I would make it dark, the corals and fish need a dark/night cycle to sleep for natural causes. If the tank never gets dark it will shock the livestock.

Agree with making it dark. I recently installed pull down shades to keep any outside light from hitting my tank. It seems to be helping with algae growth as well.

do they require PITCH BLACK? I have some moonlights in my tank that dont go off at all throughout the night. Should they be out?
