lights go out snails come alive..why??

    Every night when my lights go out every snail possible even ones under sand come out on my glass and they are always in a group. Never spread out.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Some are very nocturnal. You stand a better chance in the wild if your slow moving and taste good if you come out when the fish are asleep.

    They are probably grazing where the most algae or film algae growth is.

    Mine do the same...I have 15 shrimp that wont come out when the lights are on..but when the lights go off..I swear its like roaches scattering about...it takes a while but the snails follow...their nocturnal...and CORILLINE hit it on the nose...if your small and tasty its best if you wait till the coast is clear before stepping into the wild.

    HA! I had the exact same experience when I first added my CUC. Reefcleaners shipped me like 3 times the amount of dwarf ceriths I had actually purchased and when the lights went off, it looked like the great snail migration climbing up the walls of my tank.


    Its nothing to worry about and Corailline and NITTINID are right about trying to avoid predators
