Hey everyone i just built a canopy and got a new set of lights for my 30g and was wondering about my wattage??

1: two power compacts both actinic blue 65 Watts each
    2: one metal hilide 70 watts 14000k

is it an overkill cause it does not seem to me? if anything i need more watts for the metal hilide. Any suggestions?

might i add im new to metal hilides..

We're going to need more information such as tan size (dimensions), what coral you have and/or what coral you plan on keeping.

Thanks for the response. Well the system if fairly new its only 3 weeks old so still cycling. I have a bunch of softys from my previous setup but i plan on putting some hard corals too if posible. its 30 inches wide and about 20 inches high.

70 is okay, thats not going to harm anything. You will be fine, start the SPS you get up high, but i would not add any sps until the system matures

Why 150w you think it would just be better over all cause of growth? cause i was affraid of the heat if not i was going with 150 watts?

I would not worry about heat, a fan or two in the hood should solve that, ive had a 150 over a 29 before with out any problems
