lights look brighter than normal

    what would cause metal halides to be brighter than normal they areba little over 7 months old and when they came on today they are a lot brighter than normal.:confused:

    Are you sure they just don't look brighter?

    Only way to know for sure if they are brighter or more intense is with a Lux Meter

    Maybe they look brighter because the water is clearer. . . did you add in a filter sock, change out old carbon with fresh, or do anything else recently that would make your tank extra clean?

    have not cleaned the tank or done anything diffrent but now after the lights have been on a few hrs one of the bulbs is getting very yellow in color temp is the bulb burning out?

    Definitely sounds like the bulb is going bad in some way. The color shift is most likely going to make algae very happy.

    you may want to get a different bulb

    how long do the bulbs last on average? guess i will be ordering a new set any good deals on sets of bulbs
