the only problem is that their site shows the expected ship date as being the end of January. i don't think your corals can go that long without light.

That's a great setup but as was mentioned not available. Not sure I am comfortable not having a light that long. I am definatley open to making a change to LEDs as long as it's affordable. I really need something 24" preferably with legs and a fan if t5. I also want good reflectors. This is on a 25 gal but will be going on a 45 gal oceanic shortly.
    Please share any ideas.

Well I got home and tried the fixture and it is dead. The LEDs and fan come on but not the T5's.

I called some local fish stores today to see what I can find and it looks like my options are a Wavepoint for $186 and a SolarXtreme fixture for $200.
I have been doing google searches for these 2 units and am not coming up with a whole lot of info on either. Anybody here have any experience with either?

I know there may be more options out there but I'm figuring with Christmas coming up it'll take almost 2 weeks to get anything through the mail. Of course if these units suck I will wait.

Thank Steve, that link was one of the ones I found while searching on google.

They both seem like decent units. Just hate making quick decisions on something as important as lighting.

The only negatives I see on the wavepoint are the lack of fans and it doesn't have the ability to have the actinics and daylights on separate timers.
The solarxtreme seems cool but I think the digital timers may be an issue if the power goes out, this happens alot in my area.

I have also read some good things on the wavepoint bulbs but that isn't much of a concern since I just purchased ATI's.

i have heard good things about the wavepoint. my lfs raves about it. i almost went that way but a) couldn't get past the lack of fans and b) wanted a 72" fixture that isn't available with the wavepoint. i ended up going with aquaticlife but for the price, the wavepoint seemed like a bargain.

Thanks for the info. The LFS that carries this(wavepoint) is by far the best quality saltwater/reef store in the area. I don't think he would sell it if it wasn't good. I'm off today and going to check out both units and hopefully come home with one. Bottom line is I want something better than the old Nova extreme unit I was using since I have to spend the money. I'll let you guys know what I find.

I went ahead and picked up the Wavepoint unit. Very nice set up, looks very well built. It's also sealed up pretty well in case I have another clumsy moment! The stock lights seem pretty nice but I put my ATI's in it as I prefer the color. I will do a separate post on the new light when I get the chance.

Thank you everyone for all the help.

If you still have your Nova, keep it. Their are 3 main components. Fans, Ballasts and LEDs. If the fans and LEDS work, then the only thing you probably need is new ballasts. It would be worth picking up some cheap t5 ballasts and getting the fixture working as a backup vs chucking it in the garbage. Should be simple enough.

i think it's a good choice. i will be anxious to see how you like it and how it does temp wise without the fans.
