easy way to get out the mantis shrimp is to take out the rocks they're on, then one by one, put the rocks into a bucket with VERY salty water for a minute or 2. The mantis shrimp should all jump out of or off the rocks into the bucket. After dipping all the rocks, you should see the bottom of the bucket filled with bristle worms, mantis shrimp and other unwanted hitch hikers.

Zoas are pretty hardy. I'm not saying the won't be affected, but most zoas take a bit of abuse if you know what I mean. If you can, hold the zoas just out/above the water, It won't hurt them for a minute.

well jsut a quick update. I still have my mantis shrimp but they are really interesting creatures to watch and i think i want to keep them. I have since added 15 (yes 15) hermit crabs to my tank jsut to see if my mantis wil attack them or if they will live in symbiosis.

On another note my nitrites are finally 0 and i think im at a stage where i can add fish. I am contemplating building a refugium as i have an extra 24x12x12inch aquarium and lighting fixture. I'm not too sure if this makes sense because of the amount of live rock i have...maybe somone can chime in on weather i should bother to make a fuge or not....
