Hey guys, just heard today about a new bilaw that is trying to be passed in Hawaii that will limit the fish that can be caught in Hawaii. You can check it out at SB3225

i heard that the other day from the LFS, they said yellow tangs and a few others are gonna jump in price soon, i guess i better get em while there cheap huh? i guess thats good for the fish though, i dont want to see them over-harvested, especialy when they go to the tanks of owners who dont know how to keep fish, its for the best.

Yeah, i think it's about time research went into breeding some of the less willing species. Tank bred fish are a lot more suited for the aquarium environment and dont get stressed out as much.

I have heard about this as well from my LFS, They seem to think that this will pass and odds are Yellow Tang prices will sky rocket over $200 a piece.

Anytime something gets limited in numbers, gets regulated or the demand increases, so does the price. I not sure it will get that bad($200). Only time will tell.

200 bucks sounds like your LFS is exploiting it :p . Anyways, i cant imagine what black tangs are gonna be like...

That may be true, but likely enough for me my tank is too small and would be far overstocked to add one. So for all I care they could charge 1000 for them. I always check their prices against online prices and so far they beat them every time.
