    these stars need careful aclimation. the people who sold you the star may have touched it with their skin. Linkias can not be touched by human skin or they do melt shortly after.

    Unfortunately, Linkia are poorly suited for home aquaria. There are many cases of specimens that live for quite some time, but those seem to be far and few between.

    I don't believe that this is accurate. I have seen linkias handled repeatedly with no ill effects. Have even done it myself. That's not to say that they should be handles a lot but simply touching the star will not kill it.
