They move around quite a bit..well at least the ones I have raised. Live food gets them eating when they won't take anything else. I regularly fed frozen cubes of many different things when they have settled in to their new home and feeling comfortable.

Keep in mind that they are predators in the wild.

try doing the silversides on a feeding skewer. Move the skewer around the tank like it is swimming.........might entice him a bit. Dont do what I did though when I had an ambron scorpion and pierce the silverside so much that the fish had to pull to get it off the stick (made my fish more afraid of it!)

You likely have a powerhead in the tank. Put frozen krill in front of it so it shoots across the tank. They like "live" food. That's why food that just floats or just sinks to the bottom doesn't interest them at first.

This is extreme but this is what I did. I started off with grass shrimp and feeder danios. I don't do gold fish because its not good for them and was told hard to digest. Then I starved him and used the feeder stick method. Eventually my volitan and fu manchu got the hint and it was easy ever since. But like the motto it takes patience.

What kind if lion? Is it a juvie, sub adult or adult. Can you get a picture so I can see how mature it is? It doesn't have to be a great picture. How I would approach this would depend on the species and age.

Certain species perch more. As they get older they also slow down and perch more. I wouldn't worry about it. If you got a picture of him in his perch position, we'll be able to tell if it's a normal position or not.

try garlic seasoning too. mine loved them garlic smells - you just need less than a pinch of fine garlic powder on their food. : )

Awwwwww, he's a volitans juvie. He'll grow as big as a football, so just keep that in mind for the future because he'll eventually outgrow that tank.

Juvies tend to be active. How much flow is in the tank? I find that do not move around do much if the flow overpowers them. But where you just got him, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. He needs to get use to his environment.

I can't type too much on a phone, but give this link a lookover.

I currently have 7 lionfish. You are going to love him. We'll get him eating.
