Lionfish in a 38g reef tank?

    Yes, that was what I said, too much rock and coral for it to move around.

    I didn't say anything about proper tank size, I'm not into lions. Just passed along my by-association experience with one in a reef tank.

    I dunno about THAT, but we do keep lots of venomous fish. ;) Thanks for the kind words.

    Gotcha, and that's what I suspected. The OP did state that they wanted to build their tank "around" a lion, so I have to assume they would take aquascaping the setup with the fish in mind.

    FWIW, here's an older shot of our 60 gal "small scorp" setup. As you can see, the aquascaping allows plenty of room for the fish:

    That is nice and thank you, but it's not only us that recommend this size. It's also the recommendation of Frank Marini and Scott Michaels.
