When I bought this brain coral it had a couple of these little polyps growing on the bottom of it. They've spread quite a bit and I haven't been able to find out what they are. They don't seem to be harmful..just curious.

I don't think it is the colonial hydroids, they have brown stalks and fluoresce green in the tentacles.

    Pretty cool looking.

Eh..that's not them. These look more like plants than anything. The stalks are very narrow and look almost like a kind of moss or something. (not saying it IS a plant..just for comparison)

thats really weird that you mention this because I am currently having an issue with these things. I only had two or three about a week ago and now there are too many to count. I have heard them called wood polyps. I think that is an unofficial name tho. I will be taking a wire brush to them and extracting because I have also heard they will take over your tank!! although i guess its not unlike any kenya tree or xenia issue...

Before I moved my tank and off loaded fish, I had a Coral Beauty that would eat them..

There are two different hitchhikers on your favia. I can see in the first pic on the right looks like kenya tree. Idk what is on the left.
