OK..I added a bottle of Tigger pods to my FIRST ATTEMPT fuge over a month ago...a few days later I started seeing little white spots with lots of little legs ( like a spider ) on my fuge glass, I assumed these were the Tigger Pods.....life was good

Then i had the lighting problems and so on for a few weeks and ended up shutting the failed fuge down. I removed what appeared to be salvageable Macro Algae and placed it into a different fuge ( 2 weeks old ) for a different setup ( 55 gallon plexiglass dual 96 watt PC 6700k fuge only )

Today I noticed the Macro looking a little better color wise and then noticed a few small copepods on the glass ( round white spots with little legs ) .....then i saw numerous small white little skinny critters...like thin white lines moving around on the glass...the white dots never moved before...but these little white lines seem to have no legs, but they move around on the glass....fairly fast. Is this a different Pod ?? I checked the photo's of zooplanktons but its hard to tell...I see no legs just lines...maybe a worm?? but they move fast when they want to. ?? The water is still cycling ...no ammonia, about .25 Nitrites and 10 Nitrates ...no fish in DT just rock and sand....the rock was nuked so no life forms from there. The sand was new also...The barely alive Macro was from the failed Fuge and I never saw these guys in ther before. Could it be the same copepods, just tucked in their legs ??

    May be juvenile bristleworms.

That was my fear, but having no knowledge except for only what I have read, I was stumped. If they are...where did they come from as nothing new has been added for 2 weeks...and are they a bad thing ?? I placed a large filter sock on the fuge return to the sump just in case. I was really hoping for a response like..its just more pods !

Bristleworms usually make their way into our tanks via live rock, sand from existing systems (which is usually used to seed a sandbed in a new tank), rock that coral frags are attached to, the list goes on. It's not a bad thing. Bristleworms are excellent detritivores and unless you overfeed your tank, you don't have to worry about them reproducing to plague proportions. Now, all of this information is provided under the assumption that what you actually have are juvenile bristleworms :D

Now that you mention it ...I did get a small bag of sand 2-3 lbs and ammonia from the LFS to start the cycle with. I believe he got it from a large tub of sand and LR that they sell all their LR from....dang it all !!

Thanks for your assistance and good call !!

I have never seen bristle worms on the glass. Sounds like pods to me.

    Juveniles often attach to glass.

Mufassathelion, yes there are a few that are exactly like the picture you provided...they appeared in the first fuge after I introduced the TIGGERPODS. I thought these were the Tiggerpods?

As for the others...I checked when I turned on the light and looked with a magnifying glass ....they have two parts to their bodies...like an ANT ....a different critter for sure. different sizes and ALL OVER ! only see about a dozen of the Hydroids on the glass.

So...are none of these the from the botttle of Tiggerpods ?? and they never survived ?? I'm thinking the worm dudes must be from the bag of sand that was introduced to start the cycle as pmcarrig pointed out.

thanks again for your helps guys.
