little gremlins from below?

    Can anyone help identify what these things are that seem to be crawling up from my sand bed, they look clear smaller than rice grain.

    this is 40lb's of live sand in small 35gal cube

    Do you have any clean up crew in there yet? looks like the snails that dig in the sand an come out when they sense food, nassarius? not 100% sure if thats it but ive got them in my tank, and they are excellent for picking up scrap food!!

    Yes I have clean up crew, thats a snail there correct. I'm talking about the little clear things in my sand bed against the glass wall that you see beneath the sand surface. They look like little clear grains of rice and I don't know what they are.

    I agree. it looks like a nassarius snail to me as well.

    Sorry I replied at the same time you were clarifying. I believe those are air or CO2 bubbles. Someone else can probably explain the chemistry of why they are there better than I can, but I believe most tanks have them and they are harmless as long as you don't stir up your sand bed too much.

    there IS a nassarius snail in the sand right there, but my concern is not with him its with the little small clear things in the sand that you can see against the side of the glass below the sand surface. They look clear and small.

    I guess im not sure what you need an ID on, are you talking about the air pockets in your sand bed? if you take paint and highlight which area you are talking about it would better help us figure it out, then just repost the pic ;)
