Just saw this guy for the first time ever in my tank. There are two of them that I have spotted so far. I go into my tank room turn on my flash light and notice two itty, bitty tiny worm looking orange creatures swimming against the current at the front of my glass. At first I thought bristle worm but I have never seen one actually swim or float around before. They look like a little orange centipede.

    Any help?

    Thanks.

It's probably an epitoke. One of the forms or reproduction for polychaetes (bristleworms) is epitoky. The end of the worm starts changing form and eventually breaks off the worm. Then it will swim like a lunatic (on crack) for a while and eventually explode sending gametes all over the tank. If you're low on bristleworms, turn off the skimmer tonight and you'll have babies before you know it.

Yeap! Swimming around like they are on drugs is a perfect description.

    Thanks!
