Live/Dry Rock in Brand New Tank question

    Like mentioned it will defiintely help get the tank cycle started, and with a price like that.... you wont find better money wise. If they are smaller pieces that leaves the option of using them in your sump, or if they are bigger than you would like for that, grab a hammer & they will fit.

    Does it make a difference that there has been no powerhead or water flow on the rock in the past 48 hours ?

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Might cause some die off, but you are going to cycle anyway right?

    I am sure there are still plenty of bacteria left to colonize the tank, the majority might be anaerobic now but should not pose a problem if this rock is not going into an established running system.

    Yea the tank will sit several weeks cycling. I'm hoping to put the sand in today and next step will be the rock.

    Well look's like I missed it. He sold it all to the LFS who is reselling it for 6.99-8.99 per lb.

    thats too bad, would of been a great price for you, etleast now you can go with the original option of dry rock and now you wont have to worry about any evil hitch hikers ;P good luck with your new tank enjoy :)
