I will be aquascaping soon and was wondering what issues(cuc, etc) I would face down the road if one of the pillars of dry rock were to go above the water line? Anyone have pictures of something like this?

Love that tank....I also just found this one as well "The Lagoon:An Artistic Impression" - Nano-Reef.com Forums

The rock in mine wouldn't protrude more than an inch or 2 above the water as I'll have a canopy and wouldn't ever see it. Can't wait to get it started, maybe some pics will be uploaded in a week or 2.

ive had live rock above the surface of the water before. it can dry out and "die" on the top. but usually it stays fairly moist, and its cool to see the snails, crabs, urchins, etc. come up out of the H2O

I love this and like the idea! Cheryl aka corrailline has SPS growing out of her water so I think you'll be fine;)

What about the smell? Would the rock above the water expel any type of odor?
