Ok....I have about 125lbs of live rock that is moderately infested with aiptasia. I cannot put in pepermint or whatever the shrimps are that eat glass anemones due to a sixline wrasse that kills every shrimp that ever hit the water in this tank. Catching the wrasse is out of the question...been trying for months. My only other thought is taking the rocks slowly out of the tank and dipping them in hot freshwater to kill the anems....5 minute dips, doing this will kill the anems, already expirimented with one small rock. In five minutes how much of the good bacteria in the rocks will I kill? I quess if some benificial bacteria survive the hot water, it should recover in a week or two, if this is the case by the time I did the whole tank....i think my problem would retun on the clean rocks...any imputs?

Get yourself a Australian copper band butterfly that will make short work of them.

I agree with tangsta u can also fill a syringe with a thick kalkwasser solution or vinegar and inject the anemone or spray it into the mouth of the anemone and this will kill it.

I took Tangsters advice and ordered a copperband from my LFS....way too many to keep trying Kalk injections...been doing this for a few weeks and not really making any headway on them.....I only have a few soft corals in my 180...so hopefully they will be safe with the butterfly

I don't like the idea of a freshwater dip as you run the risk of killing too many living organisms at the same time lowering the diversification found on and within your rock. Yes some living organisms will come back but not all in my opinion. I would go one of the other routes mentioned above!!!
    Good luck!

It's important that the copperband "hail" from Australia as we find that they don't pick on corals and clams as much as copperbands from other regions do. That being said, most likely, the fish you ordered won't pick on your corals or clams but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on it :)
