    i just fish about a week ago .
    and this is what is starting to happen.

    is this right?

    my rock was never like this.

    oo and this down stuff is covering my sand.
    but i have a goby taking care of that for me.

    The brown stuff is Diatoms im pretty sure..

    Diatoms are normal. Keep doing your water changes like normal. Diatoms are seen in just about every new tank. They will go away eventually.

    I second the diatom ID. They look nasty but will go away with time. How long has the tank been up and running?

    That would explain it. I'm assuming you just got through your cycle not too long ago. A big diatom bloom usually happens shortly after the cycle.
