Live rock in bak pak protein skimmer

    should I put live rock in my bak pak protien skimmer insted of bioball I alredy have a wet dry filtration system alot with bioballs in it what should I do and if not liverock then what

    You can just remove the biobale. I have done that myself without any ill effects in my system. I have my return chamber completey bare.

    I'm with TM. Or just put some rubble in there. I would go with rubble over bioballs in any case.

    rubble rock is small pieces of live rock same as you want to add in there.

    LOL for some reason when I read it I read rubber LOL will my tank cycle again if I do this also this is comeing from another so how do I clean it to make sure I don't get any tag alongs in my tank and I want to make sure nothing gets transferd over this tank was realy bad will algea probalms

    If you are bringing rubble rock from a tank with algae problems, I would boil the rock before putting it in the Bak-Pak. I would soak it in high-alk (KH 15+) high-Mg (1800+) to kill off any algae spores that may be on the rock.

    The skimmer was in the bad algea tank how do I clean it and how do I put the rock in without it cycling

    You can soak the skimmer in vinegar solution for a couple days, then rinse it out in clean fresh water. I wouldn't worry about the rock rubble cycling if it's coming from your tank.

    I like algae in my tanks..looks more natural. Just get a select crew of snails to clean it up.
