Live rock in Fresh water

    hi, sorry to ask this dumb question. i was wondering putting live rocks in my fresh water tank, what will be the effect? will the LR be dead and everything alive in my tank? thanks

    In short, everything currently living on the rock will die off, and depending on how much rock you add, you will probably crash your tank as well. Not to mention adding calcium carbonate rock will likely cause your Ph to rise, which may be undesirable depending on your stocking.

    Plus that would be a waste of perfectly good live rock. I wouldn't recommend it.

    just curious on why you would want to add it and waste the money, over buying cheap rock?
