Here are some places I recommend for the next time you make the trip out to H-town for corals:

City Pets (actually near Beechnut and beltway 8 ) has a good selection. They usually have the best zoas in town and I really like their $5 frag tank. Occasionally they will get some really nice ORA corals.

Fish Ranch is one of my favorite places too. They generally have really nice lobos and scolys and a variety of awesome mixed life rocks for starter pieces. Be sure to check out the huge moray and grouper tank if you stop by.

T&T Pets is off of highway 6 and Bellaire. They have awesome coral, but charge PREMIUM prices for their frags. It's worth the money if you've got the money to spend.

Fish Gallery has really fallen on my list. They are a bit more pricey than City Pets or Fish Ranch and, the last couple of times I've been there, they seem to specialize in brown corals. One of the employees explained that they are stuck with a lot of stuff right now because of the economy. I guess people have been through and bought a lot of the attractive stuff and now they just have the stuff no one really wants. Unfortunate really since they used to be one of my favorite places to shop.

So Amanda and i did a run of stores yesterday, and this is how it turned out.
We first stopped in Atascosita(however u spell it) at Global leader Aquatics which turned out to be our favorite, its a very small shop off 1960 ran by a man name James, we ended up buying some Fiji Branch and some slabs from him, also a very awesome combo mushroom rock for super cheap, i HIGHLY reccommend giving James a visit he deffinantly had the smallest store but the BEST prices and his selection was pretty much up to par if not better in coral, not a bunch of browns people talk about like the fish gallery

Then we visited the fish gallery and at first i was wowed at the shop and slowly got bored of it, the prices were ok but selection wasnt anything great.

Finally we visited Andy at Fishland and bought a 50 pound for 150 of the fancy branch, really it looks like like some tonga i picked up in tyler so that in my opinion was a steal. thanks for the tip Robman!!, also he gave us a discount on sand for the sump which i just finished today!!

Anyway thanks for all the tips it made an awesome thursday!! Check for pics of the rock, and sump maybe on saturday ill have all those posted.

Glad it worked out for you--He really does have the best prices on almost everything. I also like Global leader. James is a great guy. I buy my DI Resin from him also. I think he has the healthiest looking corals in town.

James is a cool dude. real nice corals. will sell ya anything though

in the area, my favorites for rock and fish is Aquarium World and for corals T&T.

I shop at B&B for misc

I never really thought about that before, but I shop at a T&T and a B&B. Weird.
