live rock need help asap

    alright my tanks been up for about a month and a half now if not more....

    only just recently upgraded my lights to these, ( i dont know much about lights other then what the lfs told me so i am going to post a link lol)

    and here are pictures of my live rock, getting this brown stuff all over it...am i doing something wrong? have my lights on too much or not enough? it just started a few days ago but today spread like wildwire all over the place.....thanks

    You are using the wrong code from your picture host. You need to copy/paste the "IMG" code. Sounds like diatom algae to me.

    First thing I though of also. Normal for a new tank. Once the silicates in the water are used up, they will die off. The brown stuff you see are just the dead diatom skeletons. A good clean up crew will take care of that once your tank cycles. Now, during your cycling phase, remember not to skim and use only the actinic portion of your lighting.

    sorry about that with the pics,

    also are you saying my tank was not done or is not done cycling? cus i even had a dog face puffer in there live and well for about 2 weeks untill i took him back as i want to start getting some corals once my tank is up and ready and he had to go...

    i do not have any tests or anything as my lfs dose all that for me each time i visit.....but they said everything was good to go with my water and was ready for fish....kinda confused now...
