I started my own FOWLR tank last week..

I think you should just hold on and let nature have it's way..
For right now.. Give it 10 weeks or so .. Let it cycle good..
If you don't have a mature tank to put stuff in.
And like was said.. alot of that stuff you don't want..
Then later add alot of Corals. !! LOL

Go here and look at a 20 gal.. It may give you some ideas..

Seems to me, whether a WC impacts a cycling tank or not is on a sliding scale.

Like mentioned, the WC will remove ammonia, not the bacteria. The less ammonia you have, the less bacteria will multiply for it.

If you don't have particularly high levels of ammonia and you're trying to do a cycle, doing a water change would be counter productive. People add ammonia to do a cycle.

On the other end of the scale, if you're getting excessive (higher than really needed) levels of ammonia, removing some of it would seem to speed things up.

But if you're in the middle of the scale... just leave it alone.

I think both camps have solid arguments but a lot of people "pick a side" as if it's black and white... like most things, there's a large degree of variance.
