    Hello,

I've posted a thread a while back with pictures of my sump etc. requesting that people give me their opinion, advise, etc. One unilateral suggestion was to get rid of the bio balls and replace with Live Rock or rubble. So now I have created the middle chamber as a refuge. with Chaeto and Caluerpa but what would you recommend: small pieces of live rock or "crushed coral rubble"? Thanks.

You should do a side shot of your Sump..

I think I read somewhere crushed LR would work.. I have that in the back of my BioCube (Chamber 1).

    Thanks

Are you running your fuge lights 24 hours? Ive heard by just about everyone that Caulerpa can go sexual and it could spread through your tank. Not sure if this is what you wanted. Turning the lights on and off can do this.

Live Rock would be my suggestion for the rock pile.

Here is my sump with refugium set-up. You will notice that I could not fit my skimmer in the first chamber so I built an extension hose to suck in dirty water on far left. You will see that I have LR and some Chaeto on the right side of middle chamber acting as my refugium. I have a very healthy clump of grape Caelerpa but it has withered away and is almost dead. I am just using an old aquarium bulb canopy for light. What lighting or other circumstances should I use/change to keep my macro-algae healthy, or any suggestions/ remarks/ recommendations to the set-up.

I see live rock but no live rock rubble. Smaller chunks will allow for more rock to be added since you wont have to deal with the shapes and sizes of the rock.
