live rock question

    I have fish in the tank the tank been set up for a year ther is lace rock in the tank i have a hippotang yellow tang 2 damsels 2 mollys.. 1 torch coral and i want to get live rock so do i get uncured and cure it myself or just cured

    i'd get cured so there is less stress on your live stock. usually your lfs will cure it 3 wks before putting it up for sale.

    i bought some live rock from the fish store 10 pounds and it dosent look anything like the rock on the internet sites and its been in there a couple days and it dosent look like anything is really going on ..... water is good and my light is vho

    live rock is just that a rock with life on it (persay)
    Its QUALITY that you pay for and by quality I mean rock thats got polyps and small hard coral growing on it.
    Alot of live rock that Ive seen in lfs is simple dead rock that has sat in a vat some were with a bit of water flow and some seeding rock mixed in. nothing thats got any substantial life to it
    If you want that its ok but if you want more you have to shop and pay.

    can u bust a big piece of live rock into several smaller ones w/o damaging it?

    sometimes its needed to make the rock fit where you want it, no worries.
