Hi....is live rock that has been in a sump for a few months just as good as regular live rock?
It doesnt have any purple color or coralline on it but is it good to buy you think?
Would you buy it if you can get it cheap and put it in your tank?

    Thanks!

Yes, live rock refers to the bacterial colonies on and in the rock.

Just as long as it passes the "smell" test. If it smells like the ocean=good. Smells like a dead body baked in the sun=bad. Bad would be uncured and still needs to cure before its good. IMO

Whats the price? depending on that could still be a good deal even if it has to be cured.

OK....I will give it the smell test for sure.

I am picking up 70 lbs for $150 maybe less, if I can work a better deal perhaps.

if its been there for several months it should be fine. If you buy it, keep it wet while you transport it to prevent as much die off as possible.

Should I just use some old towels and wet them then drape them over the rock while I transport it?

What do you suggest, or what is the best method.

I have a bunch of rubbermaid containers.
